Washington DC - FDR Memorial

The FDR Memorial was one of my favorite memorials. The Memorial was a series of outdoor "rooms" each with a water feature. I loved looking at the waterfalls and hearing the calming sounds of the water. The journaling reads,

"The wheelchair statue at the entrance to the memorial commemorates the president's ability to overcome physical obstacles.

Waterfalls were used in FDR's memorial because he loved the water and would use water therapy to comfort his aching legs."

"Franklin's illness gave him strength and courage he had not had before. He had to think out the fundamentals of living and learn the greatest of all lessons - infinite patience and never-ending perseverance." - Eleanor Roosevelt
